August retreat announced – Inner Stillness with Magda Procner

Inner Stillness – an advanced retreat with Magda Procner – Sunday 20th August – Thursday 24th August 2017

We are thrilled to have Magda return to Poundon House for Inner Stillness. Alicia has been spending some time with Magda in Goa, at her yoga school, and to say she has had an incredible experience with Magda is an understatement.

The good news is you don’t need to go to India to have some time with Magda and her inspiring teachings. Come and join us for Inner Stillness, Sunday 20th August – Thursday 24th August. It is also the most perfect time to be at Poundon House. The gardens are just stunning, yoga is outside, meals on the terrace, it really is like being on holiday.

Places are limited so please get in touch if you are interested. This retreat is really is for intermeditate and advanced students.

Here are some words form Magda’s experience of the retreat from last year:

‘The moment I arrived at Poundon House, I felt instantly at home. It was big, with extensive green grounds, but felt very cozy and homely.

I had met Alicia four years earlier, she was a student at a TTC course I was part of in Goa. She then ended up returning to Palolem every year for a month or two with her family and last year, when I co-founded my own studio, she came to practice with us for a full month, taking classes nearly every day. At the end of her stay, she had told me about the &Sister and the retreats they began to run at their country house in Oxfordhsire and asked me if I was interested to come and teach there. She showed me some photos of the place and I instantly knew it was a perfect place to run a course!

And I was right. The house was simply stunning, built in queen-Anne style, with great attention to detail. The rooms were beautifully-furnished and there was somuch space in the house – libraries, music rooms, lounges… it was so easy to find a quiet spot where you could just sit with a book, relax and simply switch off. And the outside… the outside was even better! Acres of lanscaped gardens, green fields around and even an outdoor swimming pool!

I designed a 5-day programme for a Teachers’ Development Course, an immersion course for advanced practitioners and/or yoga teachers who wished to get new inspiration for their own practice and teaching. The morning classes were over three-hours long, with a strong asana practice as well as pranayama and meditation, while afternoons focused on teaching methodology, sequencing, philosophy, Ayurveda and more. The students created a beautiful group atmosphere – their openness, passion for yoga and self-growth, mindfulness and kindness towards one another made the course a unique experience. In between classes we could rest and sunbathe by the pool (who siad that it always rains in England? We had sun for the full 5 days!) or go for a country walk with the hosts, amomg the peaceful golden fields.

And the food! I almost forgot about the food! Our chef, Sophie Glover, made sure we were nourished with amazing, healthy meals, which were simply delicious. Every day there was a fresh juice or smoothie before yoga practice and a heartly brunch afterwards (bircher musli, avocados on toast, shakshuka, chia puddings,  and more), followed by a light lunch before the afternoon session (usually a warm soup or gazpacho and a salad) and a mouth-watering dinner (thai curries, tagines, baked sweet potatoes) with refined sugar-free desserts. Each day the menu was carefully designed to provide all the nutrients needed to sustain the students during their intense training!

Alicia turned out to be an attentive host, taking care of everybody around and making sure they had everything they needed during their stay. It was a real pleasure to run a course in such an amazing environment, supported by a great team and a beautiful group of yogis. I am already looking forward to returning there in August.’
