Meet Jenny of Root & Flower, creator of botanical skincare and remedies

Root and Flower skincare

We LOVE Root & Flower to the point that I would say both Alicia and I are pretty much obsessed! I can’t imagine going to sleep now without my sleep wand nearby!

Root & Flower make botanical skincare and remedies combining raw, natural plant extracts and nothing else

Though we have never met, we both feel that we know Jenny, and here she is…

When did you first know this (creating utterly incredible and magic natural, raw products, Root and Flower) was what you wanted to do?
I have made ‘potions’ for as long as I can remember. It felt obvious, natural and exciting to begin my formal learning in clinical aromatherapy/reflexology/cranial osteopathy (28 years ago!). I practiced these therapies in a clinic setting for many years and absolutely loved my work. Over these years, I nurtured my babies, continued to study all things botanical and gratefully developed a deep love of yoga and meditation. As a clinical aromatherapist, I saw every day the support, transformation and healing that essential oils can bring.  Working intuitively, I felt, for the remedies to work, it was vital that these remedial oils should only ever be blended with other raw, natural ingredients. I believe this method gave the remedies a vitality and a potency that is unique and enchanting. During a most profound chakra healing retreat, I felt inspired, clear and brave enough to create my own raw, natural, essential oil product range. This was very daunting (website, cosmetic assessments, bank etc) but I could always visualise these beautiful remedies in their pretty bottles and it kept me going. On reflection, Root & Flower embodies all the things that make my heart sing, such as, honouring mother nature, creativity, practicing yoga, nurturing and nourishing (self and others) and being Moon led!

What three tips would you give to somebody who was about to embark on their dream?
1. I love daily affirmation and visualization to shine a light on your dream.
2. Treat yourself to a beautiful notebook. In this book, write, draw and explore all aspects of your dream. As you fill the pages, you can see your dream coming to life. There will be ebb and flow, highs and lows; embrace them all. And remember, sometimes old ideas come back at just the right time – Recently I found a drawing and recipe from my 2014 notebook and this is now my newly launched Moon Oil range.
3. Make time and space to listen to your intuition – YOU have all the answers and YOU always know best.

What is your secret super power (hmmm Jenny we know you have multiple super powers including changing into a flying multicoloured unicorn to deliver last minute &Sister orders!)
I send out light beams of super love – These are rose scented, emerald coloured and aimed at you all.

Self-care tip (is there a mantra, meditation, practice or book that you can share with our sisters and brothers)
‘There is no need for temples, no need for complicated philosophies. My brain and my heart are my temples; my philosophy is kindness’ – The Dali Lama. This brings me back to myself and acts as a reminder that we are already enough and that love, forgiveness and kindness are abundant and always available to us all.

If you could have lunch with anyone in the world, past, present or future beings, who would it be?My husband, my daughters and my best friends, with our labradoodles (Magic and Luna) curled up with us. Why? Because nothing could make my heart fuller. However, if I am choosing guests that you will know; Noel Fitzpatrick (Supervet), Russell Brand, Amma (a guru of love) and Bananarama – No agenda – Just lots of fun.
